Hiker Chick Sock Pattern Update!

I have been designing patterns since 2010, and one of my original patterns was definitely due for some updating. Originally designed around a yarn base that I no longer stock at Cedar Hill Farm Company, the Hiker Chick pattern is the first sock pattern that I designed for two-at-a-time sock knitting and was designed at a point in knitting history when this method of sock knitting was not particularly popular. So, now the language and the recommended yarn have been updated.

Despite the title, this sock pattern is really a unisex pattern that can be knit for older children through adults. It features a modified partridge stitch heel flap, a v-heel construction, and gussets. The ribbed pattern is a garter stitch rib that is easily memorizable.

Because of the ribbed construction that follows through to the toe, this sock will gently hug both the leg and the foot with its natural elasticity. The garter rib also creates a padded comfort which, in combination with the reinforced heel flap, make this a wonderful boot sock, as well.

This pattern is no longer available on Ravelry, but can be found in my online shop and at Loveknitting.com. The top and middle photos show the pattern knit in Runaway Bride on my Rocket Sock base (currently available) and the bottom photo shows the sock in the colorway Water Sprite (temporarily out of stock).
